Rep. Meuser Reacts to Pennsylvania Imposing Tax Lien on Ashley Biden

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) released the below statement following the news that the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue had imposed a $5,079 tax lien on the property of Ashley Biden, President Joe Biden’s daughter, for failing to pay income taxes.
Ashley Biden failed to pay $1,691 in income taxes to Pennsylvania in 2015 and $1,956 in 2021. As a result, the Commonwealth imposed a $2,736 and $2,249 lien respectively on her property, along with a $94 filing fee.
Rep. Meuser said, “One could say the Biden family is either one of privilege or carelessness. Ashley Biden has an estimated net worth of nearly $2 million, and she can’t even find the time to pay $5,000 of her Pennsylvania taxes. So, therefore, the Commonwealth has a lien on her property, meaning PA is a priority creditor and must be paid before Ashley can make any substantial financial transaction. It should be noted that a lien is imposed as an action of last resort after repeated attempts to collect the payment have gone unanswered and an extended period of time has passed. At best it’s sad, at worst it’s unlawful. At best it’s sad, at worst it’s unlawful. Tax payment compliance in Pennsylvania is not difficult, and in Ashley Biden’s case, she has the means to pay her taxes. Joe Biden loves chastising American taxpayers in the highest tax bracket — maybe there are a couple of other people he should be chastising.”
Rep. Meuser’s comments on the matter were featured in a recent New York Post article.
