Rep. Meuser reacts to devastation in Susquehanna County
SUSQUEHANNA — A brutal storm ripped through Susquehanna County and parts of southern New York on Thursday, leaving destruction and devastation in its path. U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-9, held a conference Monday to address concerns and get in touch with constituents.
“It’s just a great community, they jumped all over it,” Meuser said. “I was in touch with the commissioners since Thursday afternoon, right after it occurred. We had 150-year-old trees had been uprooted. And they came through, 105-mile-an-hour winds. All kinds of hail, literally the size of golf balls.”
Meuser said meteorologists had identified the event as a “cloud burst” – while some might say it was a tornado, it was not. “It was narrow and it hit some farms and some properties a lot worse than others. You couldn’t get through,” Meuser said.
