Congressman Meuser Secures $1.5 Million for Coblentz Corner in Downtown Berwick

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) issued the below statement after securing $1.5 million in federal funding for Community Strategies Group. The funding will be used to demolish a vacant and blighted one-story building, as well as the subsequent construction of a new four-story, multi-use structure called Coblentz Corner in Downtown Berwick. The funding was included in FY24 Appropriations legislation recently signed into law.
This project aims to boost daily foot traffic and commercial activity in Downtown Berwick. The new structure will house a regional teen center and their entrepreneurial academy, addressing the need for expanded space. Additionally, it will feature a commercial kitchen with a café, a small tech-focused maker space.
Congressman Meuser said, "I'm happy to have secured $1.5 million for the razing of a vacant and blighted building and the subsequent construction of a new four-story multi-use structure in Columbia County, on behalf of the Coblentz Corner project. This new development will house both a regional teen center and an entrepreneurial academy in Berwick, serving our local youth and providing them with skills and opportunities. Our communities must have educational spaces where our children can grow and thrive. I'm looking forward to witnessing this project unfold and see the many positive impacts it will have on the Berwick community."
Executive Director of Community Strategies Group, Rich Kisner, said, “This is a huge win for Downtown Berwick and Berwick’s teens. Congressman Meuser has not only validated the vision, but his commitment to help us secure this funding makes the vision real. We now have a project and will spend the next few months determining the scale and timing of that project. We’re thankful to the Congressman for helping us set this project in motion. It’s a great kickoff for what promises to be an exciting couple of years for Downtown Berwick.”
