Congressman Meuser Secures $2.5 Million for Luzerne County Road Improvements

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) issued the below statement after securing $2,500,000 in federal funding for road reconstruction and drainage enhancements along Main Road in Hunlock and Ross Townships. The funding was included in FY24 Appropriations legislation recently signed into law.
This federal Community Funding Project will help ensure safe and efficient transit for both residents and visitors who rely on Main Road. The planned improvements will cover approximately 7.74 miles of roadway, addressing crucial infrastructure needs. The current poor state of Main Road is a mobility and safety concern. Rural residents and emergency personnel rely on the road for access and egress to the community. Once this project is completed, Main Road will provide safe and mobile transportation for residents and community services.
Congressman Dan Meuser said, “I am pleased to have secured $2.5 million for Luzerne County to facilitate the much-needed reconstruction and drainage enhancements along Main Road in Hunlock and Ross Townships. This funding will support upgrades to more than seven miles of roadway, benefiting countless residents and drivers in both townships. In Congress, I remain an advocate for critical projects that benefit rural communities and enhance our roadways. I was happy to work with the County Manager Romilda Crocamo on this project, and we will continue our combined efforts to improve the lives of Luzerne County residents.”
State Senator Lisa Baker (PA-20th) said, "Securing this federal money is another win for the efforts to upgrade roads throughout the county.
