Meuser Announces $9 Million Secured for Pennsylvania’s Ninth District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Dan Meuser announced that he secured more than $9 million in federal funding to support six community projects across Pennsylvania’s Ninth District. The funding, included in the FY26 Agriculture Appropriations legislation recently signed into law, is the result of close collaboration between Congressman Meuser, local officials, and community partners who identified high-impact needs across the region.
Over the last year, Congressman Meuser worked alongside stakeholders across the district to advance projects that strengthen public safety, expand access to healthcare, improve educational opportunities, and enhance vital community services. These projects include:
Schuylkill County
- $2,225,000 for Friendship Hose Co. No. 1 in Orwigsburg to construct a new fire station at the site of the existing facility, ensuring modern emergency response capability for the community.
- $2 million for the Temple Rural Dental College Campus in Tamaqua to construct a new dental education facility that will accommodate 20 dental students, increasing access to critical dental care across rural Pennsylvania.
- $750,000 for the Shenandoah Center for Health, Education, Business and the Arts to complete a new federally qualified health center and business incubator space in downtown Shenandoah.
Wyoming County
- $2,346,849 for Wyoming County Healthcare Center Improvements to renovate and modernize the facility, reestablishing and expanding healthcare access for residents of Tunkhannock and surrounding communities.
Montour & Columbia Counties
- $1 million for the Danville Area Community Center to renovate program areas and construct new childcare and community spaces.
- $875,000 for the Bloomsburg Area YMCA Community Resource Hub to renovate and expand the facility, creating dedicated spaces and upgraded offices for its community hub that helps hundreds of residents access vital services.
“Securing these federal investments for Pennsylvania’s Ninth District is the result of working hand in hand with local leaders who understand the needs of their communities better than anyone,” said Congressman Meuser. “I’m pleased to have helped secure funding that will expand healthcare access in Tunkhannock and Bloomsburg, improve emergency response in Orwigsburg, strengthen rural health education in Tamaqua, support revitalization in Shenandoah, and enhance childcare and youth services in Danville. I’m grateful to our municipal, nonprofit, and community partners for their collaboration, and I look forward to seeing these projects deliver meaningful results for the Ninth District.”
