MEUSER ANNOUNCES FEDERAL EDUCATION GRANT FOR PA-09 UNIVERSITIES

POTTSVILLE, Pa. –Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded $319,609 to Bloomsburg University and $348,007 to Kutztown University through the Student Support Services Grant program (SSS). They were among 23 other higher education institutions in Pennsylvania that received nearly $8 million to help students succeed in pursuing a college degree:

"Every year, Pennsylvania's colleges, universities, and community colleges graduate students who are ready to enter the workforce and contribute positively to our Commonwealth," said Rep. Meuser. "The Student Support Services Grant program helps these schools get students across the finish line and succeed by making informed choices, gaining financial literacy, and charting a course for a meaningful career."

"We are grateful to Congressman Meuser for his efforts in securing this grant for BU for a fifth time," said Bloomsburg University President Bashar Hanna. "The grant will provide us the necessary resources to continue helping our students on their path toward earning a Bloomsburg University degree."

About the Student Support Service Grant Program

The Student Support Services Grant is a competitive grant programs that provides funding to colleges and universities to help disadvantaged students, including low-income students, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities. SSS recipients use funding to help these students excel through the duration of their degree program through academic tutoring, course selection assistance, financial counseling, and transitioning to continued education and career placement.
