Congressman Meuser Joins Mornings With Maria

Before heading to the National Prayer Breakfast this morning, I joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to discuss how Democrats would rather shut down the Department of Homeland Security than find a solution. With only eight days left to pass full year funding for DHS, the left has put forward a Christmas list of demands to pass the last appropriations bill they are holding hostage.
For example, they’re demanding to fully unmask agents, which would expose their personal information and risk doxxing and harassment. If they’re going to do that, then we need to establish criminal penalties for doxxing an ICE agent and endangering them and their families.
Much of what they’re asking for in this bill was already included in the original text. They’re doing this as a stunt to satisfy their base. Their goal used to be defund the police. Now it’s defund ICE.
Once again, Democrats have created a mess here — just like the kind of mess they’ve enabled in the streets of Minneapolis amid ongoing tensions over federal law enforcement actions.
