Meuser Joins Scalise, Colleagues to Launch House Energy Action Team

March 28, 2019

WASHINGTON— Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-9) on Thursday joined House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (LA-01) and other colleagues to launch the House Energy Action Team, a coalition of members who support the development, deployment, and environmentally-friendly use of our all-of-the-below/all-of-the-above energy resources. These resources include both fossil fuels and renewable energy sources like natural gas, coal, oil, nuclear, solar, thermal and hydroelectric. The coalition will seek to develop these energy sources in a way far superior to damaging proposals like the so-called "Green New Deal."

HEAT will promote a common-sense, all-of-the-below/all-of-the-above energy approach that lowers prices for families, strengthens America's position as the world leader in energy production and makes America more energy independent.

"I'm from Pennsylvania's Ninth Congressional District…In Pennsylvania, we've got the second largest reserves of natural gas in the country," said Rep. Meuser. "Our Philadelphia-area refineries have among the highest-quality standards in the world. These are things we need to maximize and promote. We need to be real with the American people and deliver the affordable, accessible, environmentally-friendly energy for our country."

"Our Republican leadership – Whip Scalise, Rep. Mullin and others – are bringing the HEAT. Congressional Democrats are bringing a lot of hot air. Congress owes it to the people to have a realistic plan for energy independence and affordability in the 21st Century," Meuser said.

"The House Energy Action Team is here to help promote the great conservative energy policies that not only create millions of jobs in America and allow us to be a dominate energy producer, but help families have lower electricity costs, help us bring manufacturing jobs back to America, all while actually reducing carbon emissions," said Whip Scalise.

"As you can see when I talk about bringing the heat, what we really mean is a coalition all across this country of very passionate, smart members of Congress who are proud to talk about what makes America work. How energy policy has improved the lives of everyday families, has lowered electricity costs, and created millions of jobs that get more and more people an opportunity to achieve the American dream," Scalise said.
