118th Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. —Washington, D.C. - In a notable stride toward global economic fairness, the United States House of Representatives has passed H.R. 839, the China Exchange Rate Transparency (CERT) Act of 2023. This important legislation, introduced by Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09), targets China's secretive and often unfair currency practices. The legislation passed the House 379-1 with overwhelming bipartisan support.
The Biden Administration refuses to take the necessary steps to get our economy back on track. We must lower taxes to foster a competitive marketplace, rein in spending, and promote pro-growth initiatives to help small businesses and our economy thrive.
My bill, the China Exchange Rate Transparency (CERT) Act, is a bipartisan effort aimed at addressing the Chinese Communist Party's lack of financial transparency and deceptive practices on the global economic stage. By tackling China's persistent manipulation of international standards, we can end their longstanding disregard for fair play and global economic stability. This legislation underscores the importance of enforcing agreed-upon rules among all IMF members, holding China accountable for its promises, and preventing further exploitation of the system.
Considering nearly 10,000 migrants are illegally coming over the border a day, it was no surprise to see unlawful crossings first-hand while I was in Texas. During the Trump Administration, we had less than 1,000 a day, and then on Biden’s first day in office, he reversed most of the successful border security measures. Now we have a record-setting number of unlawful crossings, and 90% of illegal immigrants are being released into the interior of our country.
Every Customs and Border Protection agent and official I talked to in Eagle Pass said the same thing – we need enhanced border security, a barrier, and Remain in Mexico. That’s why the crisis at the border is so frustrating. The solutions are right in front of us, and the Biden Administration won’t implement them.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (R-PA) joined Speaker Mike Johnson and other House Republicans in Eagle Pass, Texas to visit the southern border. During the trip, Members received a briefing from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials, met with local stakeholders, and toured the border with the Texas Department of Public Safety. This trip marks Congressman Meuser’s third visit to the southern border.
