Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – Americans for Prosperity grassroots activists from across the country traveled to Capitol Hill this week as part of Americans for Prosperity’s ongoing Protect Prosperity campaign to advocate for President Trump’s tax cuts.

State Director Emily Greene traveled to Washington and conducted meetings to urge Pennsylvania lawmakers to extend provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which saves the average Pennsylvania family $2,394 in federal taxes per year and preserves 33,339 jobs throughout the state. Greene also discussed passing the rescissions package from the White House to eliminate wasteful spending.

Representatives across the country are weighing in on the civil unrest happening in Los Angeles.

Pennsylvania’s 9th District Representative Dan Meuser and gave 28/22 News his opinion on the deployment of the National Guard.

He says he stands by the president’s decision and is pushing back against claims that the military’s presence is only fanning the flames.

“The first cars were burning almost 48 hours before the National Guard went in. The idea of blaming anything under the uprisings on the National Guard is false,” said Meuser.

What began as an aggressive protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Los Angeles over the weekend rapidly descended into a full-scale riot that has entered its fifth day.

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom excoriated President Donald Trump for activating the National Guard without his permission and added the president was "inflaming conditions."

But Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., told Newsmax on Tuesday that "it's outrageous and silly to say the National Guard has anything to do with this."

“It should have been put out by the locals. It wasn't. The president said, ‘If you can't control it, we're going to send in the National Guard.' That's what happened,” Meuser said.

A bill authored by U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA) that seeks to strengthen accountability and combat fraud within the Small Business Administration’s 7(a) Loan Program was passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Meuser’s bill, the 7(a) Loan Agent Oversight Act (H.R. 1804), requires the Office of Credit Risk Management to submit an annual report to Congress regarding the performance of and risk associated with loans generated through loan agent activity.

“Access to capital remains one of the greatest barriers to growth for entrepreneurs, and the SBA’s 7(a) Loan Program must be efficient, stable, and well-managed,” Meuser said. “Unfortunately, the SBA’s Office of Inspector General has highlighted a growing need for stronger oversight of 7(a) loan agents due to increased fraud risks, with over $335 million in documented loan agent fraud having been identified.”
