Two local lawmakers voted in support of President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

U.S. Reps. Rob Bresnahan, R-8, of Dallas Twp., and Dan Meuser, R-9, Jackson Twp., voted to usher the multitrillion-dollar tax breaks package through the House of Representatives early Thursday morning. It passed with a one-vote margin.

On Tuesday, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced the winners of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition, with all three top honors going to students from Schuylkill Haven Area High School.

The annual nationwide contest offers high school students a chance to showcase their artistic talent, with first-place entries displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Congressman Dan Meuser, now in his fourth term, remains a staunch supporter of former President Trump and believes tariffs could bolster the United States' global economic standing.

U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser this week said of all the priorities faced in Congress, none is more fundamental than ensuring public safety and protecting human life.

“And that responsibility rests squarely on the shoulders of our police officers, firefighters, EMTs, correction officers, and dispatchers,” said Rep. Meuser, R-Dallas. “These are the people on the front lines of our communities, putting themselves in danger every single day to keep the rest of us safe. They are the thin gold line that holds society together.”

The U.S. House of Representatives has unanimously passed H.Res. 364, known as the Gold Shield Families Resolution.

Sponsored by Congressman Dan Meuser (R-PA-09), the bipartisan resolution aims to acknowledge the sacrifices made by families of fallen first responders and connect them with local community resources.

The resolution was inspired by Matt Guedes, Executive Director of Camp Freedom in Carbondale.
